Is it just me or does anyone else like to decorate during the winter? I think it might be all the time stuck indoors staring at my walls. Last year I painted the house. This year I am working on fine tuning the details. I am no decorator, either. I might have had an addiction to Trading Places when it was on TV. That's my frame of reference, jeeze, I just dated myself a bit. Because of that show I have this habit of looking at old things and thinking, how can I change that? I love DIY, BTW! Anyways, Pinterest is my main inspiration now. If you want to follow me you can find me HERE. I like pinning wedding ideas too. I wish they had pinterest when I got married. Oh you lucky brides of today.
Here is a little bit of the switch up of my decorating. It all started with this quote, which I remade and printed at home. DIY!!
Then I took a long look at this wall. The paintings, mehh, they matched our house in Palmdale. BUT, I had nothing else to put on this wall. It's a really sad wall, as I sit here looking at it now.
This year we had family portraits done by Lauryn Marette AND they had to go up on this wall. So I started collecting frames. I wanted an eclectic look. Here is what I came up with.
I left some space to fill in over the years. I love it, and my husband who really doesn't care about this stuff, loves it too.
So, I had to do something with these bad boys...
Insert bright pretty colors! And by the way, I am not afraid of color. I love it! There is not much muted around here.
Here is a in the middle of the project shot for you! My youngest asked me to paint her. I did a good job, if you ask me.
I filled these frames in with Chalk board paint... and tada!! A newly organized office and home work space for me and the kiddos! I have to share my office with them. I used to have the two desks in a square on the other wall and the couch where the desks are now. This new layout opens the room up for them to make a huge mess, I mean, play. And I get all my stuff in one area, and they have been severely warned about touching mom's stuff. I used to be set up on the kitchen island. I like this much better. I am way more productive when I am working in here. And now I think I need to paint my office.
The pictures in this post have been a mix of iphone, instagram, and my "good" camera.
